How each figure is worked out

Nothing is hidden. These are the exact formulas running behind the page — the same arithmetic as the original sheet, with the two long-standing errors corrected (the stage bird counts now reference the placed count, and the feed commission is applied at every stage instead of drifting with a copied cell).

Birds at a stage
Birds placed × (1 − mortality of the earlier stages)
Feed cost of a stage
Bags × rate × (1 − commission)
Cost per bird
Stage feed cost ÷ birds at that stage, summed over the three stages
FCR
Total feed intake ÷ live weight sold
FCR (farm)
Live weight sold ÷ number of bags fed
EPEF
(100 − mortality %) × live weight × 100 ÷ (duration × FCR)
Cost per kg
(DOC rate + feed cost per bird + total expense per kg × live weight) ÷ live weight
Profit per kg
Farm rate − less in market − cost per kg
Total profit
Profit per kg × live weight sold
Break-even farm rate
Cost per kg + less in market

Where the cost comes from

Three things decide your cost per kg: what you pay per bag after commission, how much feed each bird eats, and how much of the flock reaches sale weight. Small changes in any of them move the result more than most farmers expect.

Mortality is cumulative

The mortality entered against starter, grower and finisher is taken as a running total, not a share of the birds left. 1% then 2% then 2.5% leaves 5.5% dead, which is what the sheet's 30 600 → 29 835 shows.

Read the break-even line

The break-even farm rate is the market rate at which the flock makes nothing. Above it, every rupee per kg is profit on the whole live weight sold — which is why one rupee looks like tens of thousands at the end of a flock.
